Georges Seurat (1889-1957) is increasingly recognized as one of the world’s greatest artists. This impressive oil painting appears to be one of his better works. There is an important certificate verso. This painting is thought to be one of the paintings the Caracas Museum of Contemporary Art periodically sold some years ago to raise the monies needed to pay its staff after the Chavez regime assumed control of Venezuela and began looting the country.
