Joaquín Sorolla
Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida (1863-1923) is one of Spain’s greatest and most famous artists. His works are in most major museums and important collections. His numerous awards and distinctions range from great prizes at Europe’s most important art expositions, having both a ballet and a train station named after him in Spain, and France decorating him as a knight of the Legion of Honour. This particular painting was sourced from a Venezuelan collection and has a 1922 certificate verso indicating it was sold by Leonce Rosenberg’s prestigious Gallerie L’effort Moderne.
